Example research brief: an appointment-based website
An example manual review for an agency researching salons. It is not a finding about a real business or an automated website audit.
- Search focus
- Salons in a chosen service area, where the agency has relevant experience.
- Customer task
- Check whether a mobile visitor can find services, opening hours and the published booking route.
- Evidence to record
- Write down the page address, review date and specific observed behaviour in your own worksheet.
- Qualification boundary
- Keep the observation separate from unknowns such as budget, buying interest or an existing agency relationship.
Choose a category connected to your experience
Begin with an industry where you have relevant work or understand the customer journey. For example, an agency experienced in appointment-based websites could research salons in a chosen city.
Inspect the actual business website
Visit the website on desktop and mobile. Look at the tasks a customer needs to complete, such as finding opening hours, viewing services or making an enquiry. Record specific observations rather than describing a website as simply old.
Check gaps before drawing conclusions
A missing website in a business listing does not prove that no website exists. Search the business name and check its other official channels. An observation should survive a quick verification before it becomes part of a pitch.
Connect your offer to a concrete task
Explain how your experience relates to what you observed. A clear booking journey or a readable mobile service page is more meaningful than a generic promise to transform the business.
Keep discovery and qualification separate
LeadFinder can help you discover businesses and available contact details. It cannot tell you that a business has a redesign budget, wants an agency or is ready to buy. Those questions belong in a conversation.
Keep your research in one place.
